Reasons to NOT read the news #2387

Seems that terrorism really is becoming more and more like cancer these days - in that according to the media, every fucking thing in the known world causes it. This article informs users of P2P file sharing programs that they are indeed funding terrorism!

John G. Malcolm, deputy assistant attorney general in the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice, did say there seems to be some connection between illegal copying and organized crime, in that many of the groups profiting from illegal copies are highly organized and can have international distribution networks. Organized crime often supports terrorism, he suggested.

I'm sorry - but who the hell believes this sort of hysterical crap? The RIAA has finally realised that no one really gives a flying rats scrotum what Metallica think about evil college kids stealing their hard earned royalties, and needs to step things up a notch? wtf? I just sent the link to a friend, who replied "It's not even worth clicking that link, just journalists writing shit.." - and he's 100% right. I am henceforth disgusted in myself for clicking the link, and even more so for feeling obliged to write about it, but for some reason it chills me to the bone to think that there are so many people out there in the general population who will read that story and believe every word of it.

'Organized crime often supports terrorism'..? Too right it does! Think back to the prohibition days. (ableit I was not even a twinkle, but I have seen the 'Untouchables')

I agree with you. Why does everything bad these days have terrorism impenitently associated with it?!

Way too over dramatised for my liking - but thats hollywood!
